The theatre company L’Archibugio is ready to tell you the true story of Zanzanù, the bandit of the lake.
The year is 1602: the Salò Riviera is the Wild West of the Venetian Republic. Ferocious bandits and ruthless bounty hunters clash under the helpless gaze of the Venetian authorities. Crews of smugglers ply Lake Garda, transporting all kinds of men and goods. Inland, bravi and deserters protect unscrupulous landowners and their properties. And then there are feuds: ancient conflicts divide merchant families, flooding the waters of the lake with blood. Lake Garda is a powder keg ready to explode. Against this backdrop stands the story of Giovanni Beatrice, known as Zanzanù: the drama of a man who became a bandit for defending his name, a murderer for avenging the ignoble murder of his father, an outlaw for opposing a justice system ready to do anything.
